Description

Malaya refers to the long Malay Peninsula in southeastern Asia just above the island of Singapore. Whether it be the British, Japanese, or Thai, Malaya has been under various administrations throughout history and issued stamps during these occupations. The Federated Malay States was established from 1895-1946 by the British. These four states, Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Pagang issued their own stamps. Finally, in 1963, the area became known as Malaysia.
