Canada Stamps - CL - Air Mail Semi-Official
There were two distinct groups issuing the pioneer or semi-official air mail stamps of Canada. The various Aero Clubs issued their stamps to inaugurate or commemorate certain special flights. And several airplane companies issued stamps to prepay mail carried commercially to areas in Canada not accessible by mail or ship. These companies held contracts with an operated under the strict regulations and control of the Canadian Postal Authorities.
