Description

An awesome little collection which is almost a lesson in philately, at least that's how it felt to us while preparing it! It includes the Canadian stamp #610 of the painting "The Blacksmith's Shop" by Cornelius Krieghoff in many different varieties. As noted in a footnote in the catalogue, this stamp was issued on a fluorescent paper, both front and back (F/F). However, it turns out it was also issued in a significantly scarcer paper where it is still fluorescent on the front, but dull fluorescent on the back (F/DF). As noted in the catalogue, these copies command a 50% premium. It was also issued untagged and in a bit scarcer GT2 tagged version. Finally, it turns out all the stamps from the fourth column of the pane have a constant plate variety, called the "broken door frame" variety. So this very complete set includes:
