Turks and Caicos Islands is a British Overseas Territory made up of the two islands. They are located near the Bahamas and Haiti and Dominican Republic. The larger island is Caicos, while the smaller is Turks. They are a popular tourist destination, especially with Canadians. This explains why there has been an on-going bid to make Turks and Caicos an 11th province of Canada. In fact, in 2004, Nova Scotia invited the islands to be annexed to it if ever they were a part of Canada. The islands first issued stamps in 1900.
