Norway is a country in Northern Europe which shares borders with Sweden and Finland. A large amount of the country's rugged coastline faces the North Atlantic Ocean. Norway is known for its famous fjords, Vikings and Norse traditions. A fjord is createdby glacial activity and is a long inlet with steep cliffs on either side. The postal history of Norway goes all the way back to 1647, when it was used to enable different areas of the country to communicate with the government. The first postage stamp of Norway was issued in 1855.
