Ifni was once a Spanish province located on the coast of Morocco across from the Canary Islands. In 1969, the region was returned to Morocco. The postal history of Ifni begins in 1941. Initially, Spanish stamps were overprinted with Territorio de Ifni, but then new designs were issued beginning in 1943.
