This packet deals specifically with stamps from East Germany. The dissolution of the Reichspost at the end of WW2 and the subsequent breakdown of Germany into two separate states, led to the creation of the Deutsch Post of the German Democratic Republic, from 1949-1989. Communist states are known for attributing much importance to philately, and stamps from the GDR are renowned as some of the most beautiful.
